Okay, okay, it’s been about 47 hours, but it feels a lot longer, I think mainly due to lack of solid sleep. I think I finally got about 4-5 hours last night.

Yesterday I went for 2 walks around the hospital wing Im on. Todays goal is 4. Todays other goal is to fart. If I can do that it shows I dont have any bowel obstructions and then I can get some food!

Ive also got a drain in.  Fluid collection has drastically tapered off so Im hoping that can come out soon.  The less tubes and wires I have, the better.

I missed the post-surgery post. Glad to hear you are up and moving despite a less-than-ideal surgery. There’s nothing quite like the aftermath of someone rummaging around in your guts. Keep moving when they’ll let you. Despite the discomfort, it really does help get you out of the hospital more quickly.

Happy healing!

Sounds awful, but glad to hear there’s an end in sight.

Not looking forward to be old enough that that’s pretty much my daily existence.

Im reading this as I’m taking a massive shit, so best of luck farting.

We I had back surge ry I also had a limited time to take my first shit or I had to go back in. Prune juice worked scary well.

OPPO the blog where you get advice on everything from brakes to taking shits.

I wish you a speedy recovery. When I had my appendix out I got an infection and recovery was more like 5-6 weeks rather than 3 or whatever. That’s very unusual so you should be good to go soon!

If your digestion doesn't bounce back from the anesthesia right, don't mess around. Magnesium Citrate. That stuff works like nothing else. Don't hesitate. I did. It was not pretty.

Hopefully they installed a Fumoto valve on the drain to make the work easier and quicker. R&R’ing the drain plug can become a hassle, specially if it has to be done frequently.

Hang in there!

Yeah, if I get to the point that I have to live like this, Ill need someone to take me out behind the barn.

But this is just temporary, I'm looking forward to being back to 100%, because Ive been miserable for over 2 months now.

Hahaha, Ill have to ask about that.  They do have a reusable catch can on it, but its cheap plastic.  Would look better if it were polished billet.

I just talked to the doctor, hes not concerned yet - they really want me to pass some gas on my own before they feed me.  Im close, I can feel it. But Ive also got the nurse pulling for me, so if things don't work out later today they might slip me something to get the process moving along.

Ouch, that sucks. Im trying hard to avoid that, and the doctors here are being very precautious so that it d oesn’t happen.

Thanks.  Im trying to walk as much as they will let me.  I dont like to stay still, and they actually want me up and moving, so thats a win for everyone.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Last time I was in the hospital was a sudden bout of pneumonia that kept me in there for 4 days. Surprisingly low fun factor, 2/10 would pneumoan again. (I didn’t moan once, so I don’t see what the big deal was)

A distraction: check out this nifty combo spotlight and mirror!

A little levity. I know what you’re going through, hang in there things will get better quickly. Back to the original idea, some inspiration

So I got up and walked a bit, finally passed so gas... right front of the nurses little cafe area where they keep coffee and snacks.  Not 5 seconds later my nurse turns the corner and goes for a cup of coffee and I yelled out "Sorry for crop dusting you!"  All the other nurses got a good chuckle.
